Levi has lost three teeth so far. The kid is on a roll for a 6-year-old. And he is about to lose his fourth!
Let me just get out at the beginning that when Levi lost his first three teeth, it went beautifully. One of them did have some blood, and that caused a slight scare at first. However, he quickly got over it, and has never expressed a concern about switching out baby toofers for adult toofers.
Now this magic fourth tooth is hanging on for dear life. If Levi turned it just right -- VOILA! It'd be out. But this kid refuses to help this tooth along.
His parents aren't helping the situation. My husband is oddly terrified of teeth falling out. Truly, it's not too odd if you think about it. Teeth just dropping out of a mouth is pretty creepy.
I'm the opposite. The minute I hear a tooth is loose, I want to do everything we can to get that sucker out of there. Twist! Turn! Pull! GET. IT. OUT. It obviously doesn't want to be part of the pack any more.
So, Levi is torn between my husband's pleas not to touch it, and my urges to give that snaggle tooth a yank. Clearly I'm losing this battle. Badly.
When I'm around, Levi pretends to wiggle and twist his tooth for my benefit. However, I can plainly see his fingers are not connecting with that central incisor. GAH!
Now this may seem trivial. BUT YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS TOOTH.
It is now hanging sideways in his mouth. Sometimes when he talks, this tooth whistles around behind his other front tooth. It literally hangs onto the other front tooth for support, straining to stay in the mouth just a little longer.
OH THE HUMANITY! I can hardly take it!
Levi is going to swallow this tooth in his sleep. Or he will choke on it when he is wrestling around with his brother, Amos. Or it will come out when he is eating, and make that horrid crunch noise.
I don't know which is worse... To be like my husband, and fear the moment the tooth drops loose... Or to be in my shoes, currently going mad from it *not* coming out.
Either way, we are both crazy.
Our kids don't stand a chance at sanity. Please pray for them.
